Congenital lymphatic hypoplasia

Abstract
A 2-month-old male baby admitted to our hospital
pause of edematous hypertrophy of right side
extremities since birth. On physical examination, his
lght half of the body was edematously hypertropied
but arterial pulsation was well palpable. Liver and
een were felt. Simple hand X-ray showed soft
ssue enlargement of the right hand and forearm,
t osseous structure had no difference between the
t and the left. Technetium "m-tin-colloid lym
iography showed no visible lymph node uptake
..i lymphatic drainage of the right side of the body.
.l, was diagnosed as congenital lymphatic hypo
s+t ia. primary lymphedema is divided into congeni
#:l "lymphedema, lymphedema praecox and
lymphedema tarda, according to the time of onset. It is also classified familinal and nonfamilial. Radionuclide lymphangiography was the only feasible way of studying this 2 month infant¢¥s aplastic lymphatic system, because conventional lymphangiography is very difficult.
